In general, a winter jacket is supposed to keep us warm. The darker the color, the better the heat absorption. Going back in time, wool, cotton, down, etc., were primary materials for winter jackets. After the 60s, polyester took over and became popular, continuing to be so today. Although the materials for winter jackets might have changed, people still believe that deep, dark colors help retain heat. So, walking into a fashion store and looking for a white winter jacket, we might not have a chance to find one, let alone a multicolored jacket.
With this idea in mind, I believe that the world needs to rewire our neural networks and start thinking in candy colors. So, I set out to create a bunch of winter jacket prototypes with colorful patterns.
I drew these patterns on my Mac and sent them overseas to be printed on acrylic.
Then, I took the final prints and applied them to my winter jacket pattern. The prototype took a few days to make, but the results turned out to be pleasant.
I hope you enjoy my work in progress. If you would like to see a 'making of Kingsle's Winter Jacket' video, let me know. I will make one and upload it online.
